Budget Speech - Hone Harawira - Leader of MANA
Kia ora koutou
When I first came back into parliament, my first speech as an Independent MP, Te Reo Motuhake o te Tai Tokerau, was on the Maori Party's shameful "Watch me clap while I let the government steal our Marine and Coastal Area" Bill.
If the fates are good to me (and they certainly have been since I've been a free man), my first speech in the house as leader of MANA, Movement of the People, will be on the Key / Turia / Brash "Watch me clap while my people get shafted again" Budget.
And
if I get to speak, I intend to condemn the policies of the
Key / Turia / Brash government that have seen GST go up,
food prices go up, petrol prices go up, house prices go up,
unemployment go up, while the only thing to come down is
taxes for the rich, and I intend to propose a radical way
forward that will:
• ease the plight of the
poor
• scare the shit out of the rich
• and give
Maori hope for a better future.
It's timed to go
about 4.45pm this afternoon, so if you got time, hook
in.
But if you wanna go fishing instead … sweet …
catch it on mana.net.nz later.
