New Zealand to attend parliamentary forum in Tokyo

Lindsay Tisch MP will be attending the 20th Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF), the legislative wing of APEC, which is to be held in Tokyo in January.
Lindsay Tisch says the annual forum discusses regional cooperation in the Asia–Pacific region. Discussion topics will include the economy, trade, political and regional security, in addition to the future work of the organisation.
“The forum provides a unique opportunity for parliamentarians from across ths vast Asia-Pacific region to discuss a wide range of issues that impact us all, be it in different ways,” Mr Tisch said.
Mr Tisch will be presenting papers during the event on cooperation in disaster prevention and promoting economic partnership and free trade.
New Zealand is a member of the Forum’s Executive Committee, representing the Oceania Region.
The Assembly opens in Tokyo on Sunday, 8 January 2011, and concludes on Thursday 12 January.
