Key catches
Banks’ memory problem
Labour’s Shadow Leader of the House, Trevor Mallard, says John Key needs to be transparent as to whether he reads and understands National Party Board minutes and whether he supports the work of Simon Lusk.
“Key couldn’t remember very serious issues relating to Lusk that were outlined in National Party board minutes leaked to the Labour Party. When pushed he eventually said that he had some recollection.
“He looked like John Banks on a bad day,” Trevor Mallard said.
“The Prime Minister needs to make clear whether he supports the view of his Chief Whip Michael Woodhouse and his party board that Lusk is ‘disturbing’, has a ‘very negative agenda’ and represents a ‘serious risk to the party’.
“If he does he should tell the public why he didn’t remember the Lusk issue and if not what he is going to do to clear Lusk’s name with the National Party,” Trevor Mallard said.
