Paula Bennett to run strong campaign

Waitakere MP Paula Bennett has today indicated her intentions for the next election, in light of draft boundary changes affecting West Auckland.

According to the draft boundaries announced today, the current Waitakere electorate will effectively be disbanded and split into different electorates with two new electorates created.

"I have loved working for Waitakere, I passionately campaigned in this area, have strong support and I will continue to represent National across this region."

We have to emphasise, the changes announced today are draft and may change.

"If the draft changes do go ahead, I would like to make clear my intention to seek the nomination for the new Upper Harbour electorate," says Mrs Bennett.

“I have lived in Upper Harbour and have a real affinity for the area so it feels like a great fit.”

"My focus will very much remain on West Auckland as a whole, along with my National party colleagues," says Mrs Bennett.

"We'll be running a strong campaign for National in Upper Harbour and West Auckland and I am seriously up for it."

It's important to clear up the speculation around these changes and be up front with the public.
