Māori economy can lift the
future of work
Māori will play a vital role in Labour’s new Future of Work Commission, Labour's Maori Development spokesperson Nanaia Mahuta says.
“The past twenty years have seen the Maori economy grow to $37 billion.
“Labour’s Future of Work Commission will engage with Māori businesses, trusts, Iwi organisations and small businesses to discover further opportunities to boost regional development.
“In our modern post-settlement environment, Maori are looking towards high-value investment in the export market and long-term investment opportunities in our domestic economy.
“I will be working closely with
our new Commission chair and Finance spokesperson Grant
Robertson to ensure Māori have an important role in New
Zealand’s future workforce.
“Labour’s goal is an
economy that works for everyone,” Nanaia Mahuta
says.
