Labour adds its condemnation of Paris attack

The Labour Party adds its voice to the international condemnation of today’s shocking attack on freedom of speech in Paris, Leader Andrew Little says.

“The attack on the Charlie Hebdo newspaper is an assault on democracy and freedom of expression. Violence against journalists is abhorrent and must not be tolerated in any form.

“This attack should be seen for what it is – an attempt to instil fear in those who would exercise their universal freedoms of thought and expression, which is all of us.

“We must stand with the French people and all publishers and reject this violence and intimidation which has no place in the civilised world.

“Labour sends its thoughts to the families of the 12 victims and its best wishes to those who have been injured,” Andrew Little says.
