Free Dental Treatment for Pregnant Mothers Welcomed

New Zealand First welcomes the Lakes DHB initiative to provide free dental care to pregnant women living in Rotorua communities with high levels of deprivation.

“New Zealand First supports improving access to high quality oral healthcare and this is a fantastic example of targeted healthcare, deserving of a national rollout,” says New Zealand First Health Spokesperson Barbara Stewart.

“This initiative will not only see free dental treatment offered to high needs pregnant mothers but also follow-up care delivered to the new-born baby, providing long term health benefits and care for both mother and child.

“New Zealand First eagerly awaits the results of this trial and looks forward to the future expansion of this initiative as a national service,” says Mrs Stewart.
