MP delighted about Capital Connection announcement
Today KiwiRail announced that it will keep the Capital Connection running for the next three years following a funding contribution by Horizons Regional Council and Greater Wellington Regional Council.
“I am pleased to see that this vital transport link will be continuing for at least the next three years,” says Jono Naylor.
“This has been one of the most talked about local issues for a long time, as Mayor I was very supportive and since being in Parliament I have been working hard with the machinery of government to try and keep this service.
“I have been working with the Minister of Transport, local government and other government officials.
“I am pleased to see that today we have secured this network for the next three years.
“This is great news for the commuters travelling from Palmerston North to Wellington.
“This announcement showcases that when local and central government work together the people will benefit.
“The next step is to encourage commuters to use this service to ensure its ongoing success,” says Naylor.
