Party Leaders Should Just Give up And Join New Zealand First

Clayton Mitchell MP

New Zealand First List Member of Parliament
28 JULY 2015

Labour And National Party Leaders Should Just Give up And Join New Zealand First

The leaders of both Labour and National will receive membership forms from New Zealand First, along with a message of encouragement to join the party.

The invitation comes after both National and Labour continue to adopt many of New Zealand First’s long standing policies, in favour of their own.

“At the rate Labour and National are embracing our policies, we fully expect the party leaders to, at the very least, consider filling out New Zealand First membership forms, says Clayton Mitchell, New Zealand First List MP.

“We should probably enclose additional copies, just in-case.

“National declared our policy of providing free healthcare for under 13s as costly and impossible. However, they have since rolled it out and called this significant New Zealand First policy their own.

“They also adopted a watered down version of our Regional Immigration policy, encouraging migrants to leave Auckland for the regions, even though National previously labelled New Zealand First as racist and the policy impossible to implement.

“Labour’s joining the party too, with their policy shift to our stance on not allowing foreigners to buy up New Zealand’s property market. This comes after years of Labour embracing foreign ownership of New Zealand and, ironically, accusing New Zealand First of xenophobia.

“The flag referendum is another example of Labour’s shift to New Zealand First. Initially agreeing with the government, they’ve since changed their minds, perhaps after reading our policy, and now oppose the referendum.

“These are only a few of the long list of examples where both National and Labour are seeing sense and using our no-nonsense, common-sense policies to improve the livelihood of New Zealanders.

“We hope they make full use of the membership forms,” says Mr Mitchell.
