ERA Means Unemployment For Youth

Youth group Prebble's Rebels has expressed dismay that the Employment Relations Bill has been passed into law, and warns that it will result in higher unemployment, especially for young people, Maori and women.

"The new Employment Relations Act discourages people from setting up a business and employing their fellow New Zealanders. As always with anti-employment policies, the groups hit hardest will be youth and minorities" said Rebel President, Clint Heine.

"The Act makes it harder for businesses to offer young people their first job, and for youth to gain all-important job experience. Similarly, the unemployed will find it harder to get back into the workforce."

Mr Heine said that if the government was serious about stopping the brain drain they would be passing law that encourages growth and employment, instead of undermining it.
