Public service workers to rally against bill

Public service workers who are members of the Public Service Association will join with members of other unions to rally against National MP Wayne Mapp’s 90 day probationary period bill in Wellington, Nelson, and Dunedin tomorrow.

The PSA represents over 54,000 public service workers in central and local government, the health sector and in community services

Details of the rallies:
Wellington: Rally at Parliament at 12.30pm;
Nelson: Rally at 1903 Square, opposite Cathedral steps from 12 noon;
Dunedin: Rally outside MP Katherine Rich’s office from 12 noon.

“The rallies will send a clear message to parties supporting the bill that it would be a huge leap backwards for industrial relations in New Zealand as it gives employers the power to treat their employees unfairly,” said Richard Wagstaff, PSA National Secretary.

PSA National Secretary Richard Wagstaff will be addressing the rally at Parliament.
