Amnesty International activists are participating in the 'Global Day of Action for Burma' events all around the world, this Saturday 6th October 2007.
Amnesty International are calling for the following actions to end the brutal human rights violations in Myanmar/Burma:
The Myanmar government must end attacks on protestors and immediately release all those detained for participation in peaceful assemblies.
ASEAN should use its influence to ensure the Myanmar authorities respect human rights.
The government of China, the nation with the most political influence over Myanmar's government, and a permanent member of the UN Security Council, must increase pressure on the junta to avoid bloodshed and violence, and address the long-standing human rights problems.
The United Nations Security Council must immediately impose a comprehensive and mandatory arms embargo on Myanmar.
