The New Zealand campaign to take GST off food and tax financial speculation
Time To Take Action Against GST On Food
A spectre is haunting ordinary working people on Budget Day – the spectre of increased taxation to help pay for tax cuts for the wealthy.
Prime Minister Key has said that this gross transfer of wealth is something we should not resent the wealthy are deserving, ordinary working people are not.
It is time to take action
The Alliance Party and Socialist Worker are jointly launching a nationwide tax campaign on Saturday 22 May.
The campaign, built around a petition, champions tax changes that will benefit all grassroots New Zealanders; the removal of GST from food and a taxation of financial speculation.
These two demands will address imbalances in the tax system, which sees ordinary working people having to pay tax on one of life’s necessities, food, while financial speculation goes untaxed.
