How much is NZ-US Partnership Council costing taxpayers?

How Much Is The NZ-US Elite Decision-Makers Love-Fest Next Week Costing Christchurch Ratepayers?

The NZ Not For Sale Campaign is writing to the Mayor and City Council of Christchurch asking for information on what, if anything, the city has budgeted for playing host to the secret NZ-US Partnership Council meeting being held in Christchurch (at an undisclosed, classified location) from February 20-22.

''We hope it is nothing'', said Campaign Secretary Christine Dann, ''but we would like to be reassured that the wealthy US corporate and Government officials who are descending on the city on this weekend are paying all their own way. ''

The NZ Not For Sale Campaign is hosting a Teach-In on the hot topic at the NZ-US Partnership Council meeting - the Transpacific Partnership Agreement - a trade and investment agreement which (if signed by NZ) will give greater rights to US corporations than NZ citizens. Auckland Law Professor Jane Kelsey is currently attending the 5th round of TPPA negotiations in Santiago, Chile, and will return to brief participants at the Teach-In on Sunday.
