Allan Peachey Announces Retirement
National's Tamaki MP Allan Peachey is to stand aside at the election.
Mr. Peachey says he is withdrawing his candidacy to focus on his treatment and recovery from his recent ill health.
"After long and careful thought I have concluded that I can't, hand on heart, offer a full three-year, full-time commitment to the people of Tamaki. So, it is with regret, that I announce my decision not to stand at the next election.
"I have been immensely proud to represent the Tamaki electorate over the past six years, and I want to thank the whole community for their help, their support, and their warm wishes during my recent illness.
"I also want to wish my successor well. Tamaki is a fantastic community, with incredible opportunities and a bright future. I will be doing what I can to make sure the seat maintains its strong voice within National this year and beyond."
