Forest activists unfurl a banner saying "No Harvey No! Stop Selling Australian Native Forest Destruction!" as part of a global day of action involving hundreds of people in 11 countries.
Earlier this afternoon, community members is Auckland made their voices heard at the Mt Wellington Harvey Norman store to protest Harvey Normans selling products sourced from Australian Native Forest.
‘Internationally iconic Australian Native Forests are still being destroyed by industrial scale logging operations. Endangered species habitat, and some of the most carbon dense forests in the world are being wasted daily. We are here today to send a clear message to Harvey Norman that profiting from the destruction of spectacular forests is absolutely unacceptable, especially the ready availability of sustainable alternatives’ Said Michael Tavares from 'The Last Stand', an Australian environment organisation.
‘The whole world is standing up for Australia’s Native forests today and sending a very clear message to Harvey Norman that profiting from forest destruction is absolutely unacceptable in the 21st century. From Hollywood to Milano, hundreds of people are taking a stand to say No Harvey No! Stop selling Aussie forest destruction’ said Mr Tavares
Activists around the world haven taken part in cordinated actions including in Sydney scaling the Sydney Opera House and unfurling a large banner reading "No Harvey No! Stop Selling Aussie Forest Destruction!"
