New online guide to NZ’s environment goes live

Media Release: New online guide to New Zealand’s environment goes live today

The Environment Foundation* has launched a new web-based guide to the management of New Zealand’s natural environment.

The Environment Guide (www.environmentguide.org.nz) has been released in beta version for feedback from users today.

“The Guide provides freely accessible, practical and user-friendly information on the wide range of laws and policies which apply to New Zealand’s environment,” said Environment Foundation Chairperson Raewyn Peart.

“The website is intended to assist individuals, community groups and businesses to better participate in environmental decision-making processes.

“In this first phase of its development, the website has comprehensive material on the Resource Management Act and the Exclusive Economic Zone Act. More information on environmental issues, such as freshwater, biodiversity and marine management, and activities, such as farming, forestry and renewable energy, will be uploaded to the website over the next few months.

“We are currently looking for sponsors and advertisers to assist with the completion and upkeep of the website. This is a fantastic opportunity for resource management businesses to grow their profile and contribute meaningful benefit to the New Zealand community,” Ms Peart concluded.

Please send feedback on the website here.

* The Environment Foundation is a charitable trust established in 2009 to promote the preservation, conservation, protection and enhancement of New Zealand’s natural environment for future generations. The primary focus of the Foundation is on providing high quality environmental information and training to enable people to participate more effectively in decisions affected New Zealand’s natural environment. The Foundation has a close association with the Environmental Defence Society Inc and draws on the skills and experience of that organisation. However, the Foundation has a distinct governance structure and separate financial management.
