SSC Pay Hike Makes MPs Look Selfless
SSC Pay Hike Makes MPs Look Selfless
26 MARCH 2015
Reacting to the Dominion Post report that average salaries at the State Services Commission hit $126,000 in 2014, up $13,000 in a year and 15 per cent more than any other department, Jordan Williams, Executive Director of the Taxpayers’ Union says:
"The State Services Commission are the very officials tasked with ensuring taxpayers get value for money from the public service. Instead of leading by example they’re feathering their own nests with completely unjustified taxpayer funded pay hikes."
"The SSC is also the department who are required to enforce the Government's back-office staffing cap. How can they expect other to trim down when they are fattening up and even making the recent MPs' pay hike seem reasonable."
“The excuse put forward by the Commission's 'chief talent officer’ is outrageous. Hiring more high paid bosses to manage the same size department isn’t something to be proud of."
