TPP takes next step - EMA

TPP takes next step - EMA

The release of the text of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) is a welcome next step in the process towards finalising the agreement.

We believe the overall result of the TPP will be significant for our economy, both today and in the future when it matures, says Kim Campbell, CEO, EMA.

“There is a lot of detail to go through, and it’s too early to provide any reasonable analysis on this. However, we will work through this in due course.

“Consistently, we have said that it is to New Zealand’s advantage to be at the table in regards to free trade agreements. We are an economy of 4.5 million people and it’s common sense that we need to find other markets to trade with.

“The TPP gives New Zealand access to some of our most significant trading partners, along with opening other doors. While it’s not perfect, it has to be the way forward.”
