National’s Napier candidate selected
David Elliott has been selected as National’s 2017 General Election candidate for Napier.
Mr Elliott currently works as a pilot for Cathay Pacific, and formerly flew for the Royal New Zealand Air Force for 12 years. He grew up in the Hawke’s Bay and after living overseas returned home in 2008 with his wife to raise their children there.
“Napier is a truly unique part of New Zealand, the Art Deco capital of the world and a place I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to give a voice to in Government,” Mr Elliott says.
"My great grandmother, my grandfather, and my father were born and raised in Napier. Dad is incredibly proud of me standing to be the MP for my family’s hometown.
“We’ve got a regional economy that is humming, we’ve got a stunning natural environment and climate that is the envy of other regions, and the pace of life is attracting families from all over New Zealand.
“The Napier electorate is getting ahead under National, and it deserves a local MP that is aspirational for the area and knows what it takes to get ahead.
“National knows what it takes to grow the economy, get Kiwis into work, lift their incomes and tackle devastating natural disasters. These are the things that families and businesses expect, and this is a Government with a track record of delivering.
“I’ll be running a strong campaign for Napier and National to earn the right to join Bill English’s team that is focused on getting results for Napier and New Zealand.”
