Labour Party General Secretary appointed

The New Zealand Labour Party is pleased to announce that Andre Anderson has accepted the position of General Secretary and will be taking up his new role in early November.

Andre is a graduate in Law and Arts from Canterbury and holds an MBA from Cambridge. He is currently a Principal Policy Adviser in MBIE, working on the Government’s housing strategy. His previous career include roles in a leading law company, as a solicitor in Treasury, in economic development in MED and as a manager in theatre production.

Andre’s skills encompass strategic thinking, financial management, legal matters, governance and working in complex environments.

He is a member of the Party in Wellington and has been active in its policy discussions.

“Andre is an excellent appointment. He is ideally equipped to take up the role of General Secretary at an exciting time in the history of the Party,” said Nigel Haworth, President of the NZLP.

In his new role, Andre will be attending the NZLP Conference in Dunedin between 2-4 November.
