Expert Panel Holding Public Discussion of Drug Law Reform

Expert Panel Holding Public Discussion of Drug Law Reform Tomorrow in Auckland

A panel of experts hosted by People Against Prisons Aotearoa (PAPA) will meet to discuss drug law reform. The panel will be on the top floor of the Auckland Central Library from 1pm, on Sunday 3rd of March. MP Chlöe Swarbrick of the Green Party and Sandra Murray of the Cannabis Referendum Coalition will join PAPA Research Coordinator Ti Lamusse.

“PAPA is pleased to present this panel as part of the wider conversation around drug law reform,” says PAPA spokesperson Emilie Rākete. “With the cannabis referendum upcoming, we should be discussing the wider implications of drug law reform.”

“PAPA’s position is that drug addiction is a public health matter, not a criminal justice one. In our work advocating for prisoners, it is clear that New Zealand’s prison system utterly fails to treat addiction.”

“We are looking forward to a lively public discussion about where we go from here with New Zealand’s drug law policy.”
