Groser - Government may not seek bipartisan support for TPP

Climate Change and Trade Minister Tim Groser on TV One’s Q+A programme this morning.

Trade Minister Tim Groser won’t confirm whether New Zealand will sign up to a Trans Pacific trade deal without zero tariffs on dairy.

“We will make a considered and professional judgement at the end of the day, but I'm not going to sit down here and start in public declaring what's the bottom line for New Zealand.”

Minister Groser concedes hopes of getting zero tariffs for our dairy products into the United States and Japan is fading.

“There is absolutely resistance to this and this is an end game negotiation. It's too early to make this judgement. This always happens like this.”
