Windy Weather in the Lead Up to Guy Fawkes

Windy Weather in the Lead Up to Guy Fawkes

MetService meteorologists are forecasting dry and gusty northwest winds for eastern areas about and south of Napier on Thursday, and again on Saturday.

"These winds are associated with fronts crossing the country" commented MetService Weather Ambassador, Bob McDavitt. "The fronts will dump some rain in western areas, and produce dry and gusty conditions east of the main divide."

McDavitt added that this Saturday marks the four hundredth anniversary of Guy Fawkes' arrest. "It is an interesting celebration. Our weather maps show that the day may bring another dose of strong and dry west to northwest winds to eastern areas. There is a chance the winds will ease or turn cooler southwesterly in the far south."

Many may find the weather on Friday or Sunday evening better for fireworks rather than Saturday evening. The weather updates issued on Friday will help to plan out the weekend.
