A wet end to the week

A broad area of low pressure over the Tasman Sea will bring an extended spell of unsettled weather lasting into early next week.

MetService Media and Communications Meteorologist Daniel Corbett commented,"The weather system advancing towards us from the Tasman Sea is complex, and is expected to deliver several bouts of wet weather during the next couple of days. On the weather map, it looks a bit like a bicycle wheel with spokes rotating around the centre."

"Northland, Bay of Plenty, Waikato and Nelson are currently covered by either a Severe Weather Warning or a Severe Weather Watch, for heavy rain during the next 24 hours or so," Corbett went on to say. "After that it remains unsettled, particularly in the north and west of both islands."
