Top French Socialist leaders invited to marry in Tahiti next month
The French Polynesian president says the French Socialist leader, Francois Hollande, and the party’s possible contender for the French presidency, Segolene Royal, have been invited to get married in Tahiti next month.
Oscar Temaru made the announcement in France where he has been holding talks with French leaders and where he reaffirmed the co-operation between the French Socialists and his Tavini Huiraatira Party.
Mr Temaru says at his invitation the couple, who has four children, should get married at the townhall in Faaa.
He has announced his support for her becoming the next French president although Ms Royal is yet to announce her candidacy officially.
According to opinion polls, she is the frontrunner ahead of the interior minister, Nicolas Sarkozy.
