Solomons attorney general arrested in PNG for alleged child
sex
Papua New Guinea police have arrested the Solomon
Islands attorney general, Julian Moti, on alleged child sex
offences.
The arrest was announced by the Australian
minister for justice and customs, Chris Ellison.
Mr Moti,
who is an Australian citizen, was arrested on a request by
Australia which will now seek his extradition.
Mr Ellison
says the Australian government has welcomed PNG’s
assistance in apprehending Mr Moti.
Mr Moti was appointed
as the new attorney-general last week despite concern about
his
suitability.
