Fateh Party Chooses Bil'in Village For Anniversary
Fateh Party Chooses Bil'in Village To Commemorate Its
42nd Anniversary
Weekly demonstrations have drawn international attention to the annexation of Palestinian land
3/1/07 (Bil'in, West Bank) - The Palestinian resistance movement Fateh, in coordination with the Popular Committee Against the Wall and Settlement in Bil'in will commemorate the 42nd anniversary of the founding of Fateh on Friday, January 5th 2007 in Bil'in village. The celebration will commence in the village center directly after the noontime prayer, and will be followed by a demonstration and march toward the Wall as the residents of Bil'in have done without fail for nearly two years.
Muhammad al Khatib, a local coordinator for the PCAW, said "Friday's demonstration is a call for unity across all party lines in our common effort. We invite anyone who will stand with us, whether they be Palestinian, Israeli or international activists."
Formed in reaction to the Occupation of Palestine, the Fateh movement has chosen to honor the village of Bil'in, where the daily struggle of the residents has inspired resistance throughout Palestine. This small village, near Ramallah in the West Bank, has lost approximately 60% of its land as Israel's Wall was constructed directly through the area.
