Making a Positive Difference
Press Release – Global Vision International
Are You the Difference?
Every community has a significant person who makes a difference and GVI (Global Vision International) would like to reward one significant person with a year long worldwide volunteering trip.
GVI know
that volunteers make a difference and have been working in
International community and conservation development for the
last 13 years. Volunteers that give their time and finances
are the reason GVI programs are seeing long term,
sustainable & tangible progress. That’s why they have
launched their new Global campaign – Are You The
Difference?
If you, or someone you know makes a
difference then you should take a look at the GVI site for
the full competition details (www.gvi.co.uk/are-you-the-difference)
and YouTube (www.youtube.com/user/GVItube) for the
initial entries. A simple 90 second video is all that's
required. How do you make a difference? Can you be creative
with your entry? 90 seconds doesn't sound like long, but
take a look at the entries and you'll see there is plenty
that can be achieved. Acting, sketching, costumes, extras,
photos, scenery. Or maybe your imagination is even more
vivid and original. If you are daunted by the idea of
uploading your video, well don't be. It's a simple process,
and YouTube talks you through in easy steps.
Whatever the difference you make is, it's all relevant. Charity work, raising money, litter picking, community groups, caring, after school clubs, using your holiday time, or spare time to help others, volunteering at an animal sanctuary, contributing to local heritage, dog walking for an elderly neighbour. This could be a great project for your volunteer or community group, school or charity to take part in.
And the prize? Well how does a worldwide volunteer placement for a full year sound? Including a round the world flight, your travel insurance, a video camera and some equipment vouchers.
GVI want this campaign to be an annual event and
feel it has the potential of creating awareness and support
for many organisations and individuals. It’s a way for
volunteers to talk and highlight their work and to open up
to a new and previously unreachable audience. GVI are using
their global network to launch the campaign and have a
combined database of nearly 500,000 people interested in
volunteering, and organisations on board including Global
Giving, Responsible Travel & The Princess Diana
Awards.
The closing date is the 31st May 2010 so go on,
show them that You Are The
Difference!
