New Health Centre Opens In Levuka

People of Ovalau will now enjoy better and accessible health services in the opening of a new Health Centre by Health Minister at Bureta Village today.

Minister, Dr Neil Sharma was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary for Health Dr Salanieta Saketa and other senior staff of the ministry.

He said the new health centre is another milestone achievement for the island in line with the Peoples Charter for Change, Peace and Progress Pillar 10 which calls for improvement in Health Service Delivery.

Dr Sharma said Government was thankful that the project had been completed and thanked the vanua for their support towards the project.

“We are thankful to the vanua for their continued support towards the projects which is now a reality for the people of Bureta and the nearby villages,” he said.

Provincial Administrator Paterisio Nunu said the people of Levuka must now work to ensure that they make good use of Government resources.

“Healthy living is very important and the people of Levuka is thankful that this was made possible. What was once a dream is now a reality,” Mr Nunu said.

He added that in the past people travelled long distances to be attended to at the Hospital in Levuka Town, but now almost seven villages would be able to access a brand new facility.
