UN Chief to Visit United Arab Emirates and Oman Next Week

New York, Jan 11 2011 1:10PM

Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will travel next week to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Oman, during which he will attend the annual summit on energy that opens in Abu Dhabi on Monday.

The four-day 4th World Future Energy Summit (WFES) will discuss renewable and future energy solutions, innovations, investments, and policy.

While in the UAE, Mr. Ban will also meet with the Government leaders and visit Masdar City on the sidelines of the Summit.

The Secretary-General will then proceed to Muscat, the Omani capital, for an official visit during which he will have meetings with the country’s leaders. Topics of common interest include the forthcoming Decade of Action for Road Safety (2011-2020).
