The ideology of Pakistan being departed

The ideology of Pakistan being departed

By Syed Atiq ul Hassan, Sydney

Pakistan was created to secure the basic rights of the Indian Muslims. All India Muslim League under the leadership of the founder of Pakistan, Mohammad Ali Jinnah, struggled to negotiate and secure the civil rights of the second big population of United India (Muslims) with Indian Congress over the long period of time and in result of continuously denial of various proposals put forward by the All India Muslim League by the Indian Congress, the leader Mohammad Ali Jinnah finally declared the ultimate solution of a separate state for the Muslims of India - Pakistan. A state where the citizens would be treated equally, where there would be equal rule of law for everyone, where people would respect each others’ ethnicity and faith, where citizens would be free to practice their religion and where everyone would enjoy the freedom of an independent state.

Today, everything is happening in Pakistan except those for which Pakistan was created. People are killing each other like animals; rule of law is the rule of the jungle, no respect of each others’ thoughts and beliefs. The State has not power, gas, water and prices of basic food are beyond the reach of common people. On the other hand, the politicians in power and out of power are involved not only in corruption and shameless activities. On the name of democracy foreign forces for their own vested interest in the region are supporting the control of state to those corrupt so-called politicians who are further dragging the country towards total collapse whereas the control is controlled by those Generals who are watching everything quietly.
The journalists, writers, intellectuals, human rights and members of the civil society are feeling helpless and loosing hopes. Television talk shows become the serial entertaining shows where so-called politicians behaving like comedians making the show interesting with their deceitful statements and baseless stories. Print and electronic news reporting become the daily progress report of killings, bomb blasts, raps, lootings and frauds. Ministers appear on the television abuse each other using third grade language.

In the last three years, these corrupt politicians on the name of democracy have given country further bankruptcy, corruption and lawlessness. They have shown no interest in the problems of common people who are dying every day by poverty. These politicians’ only goal is how much they can prolong their power and how much they can increase in their assets by kickbacks and briberies.
In this situation what are the options people of Pakistan have? Just wait & see; let the things happen the way they are happening and hope that one day a messiah will come and fix everything with his miracles; or further trust on these liars and hope that this time they will listen to them and bring them out from their ailing situation.

The people who have short memories are victimised by the same perpetrators time and again. The people of Pakistan forget what happened to Pakistan in 1971. The people of Pakistan should look into the profiles of those who are governing Pakistan today. Most of them are either the same culprits or their next generation who had split the country in 1971.

Pakistan’s ruling history shows that when some incompetent politicians failed to run the state affairs the others begged army to take control of the state again. Now it is claimed that army is not interested to sabotage the current democratic system and taking control of the government, on the other hand, the fact of the matter is that United State and the western powers want this weak and corrupt Pakistani civilian government to continue until United States and her allies achieved their goals in Afghanistan and in Pakistan. United States wants their army operations including drones’ attacks to be endorsed by the civilian government of Pakistan. Past Government of General Pervaiz Musharraf was the major obstacle for US and her allies to continue army operations freely on Pakistani soil. Therefore, army will not take control of the country until United States and her allies don’t achieve their goals in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Now, in the current drastic failing situation of Pakistan, if the people of Pakistan feel that the country needs a revolution then it has to come up from the masses. If the people of Pakistan want to see Pakistan alive then they have to get up and punish these culprits who have brought the country in this situation.

The recent historic demonstration of power of masses by the people of Tunisia to kick out the most powerful person of the country is the perfect example for the people of Pakistan. The nation of Tunisia compelled the most powerful man of the Tunisia - President Zain Al Abidine Ben Ali – to run away from the country like thief.

Like Tunisia, people of Pakistan have to compel these corrupt politicians, feudal, Chaudharys and tribal leaders to surrender their power against the nation. The people of Pakistan have to bring those in power who can make change in the lives of the common people, who have neat and clean past, who are competent and honest and loyal to the country.

Pakistan is the country which exists at the most important geographic location in the region, Pakistan has huge natural resources from coal, iron, gas, oil to even gold and diamonds. Pakistan has enormous manpower, professionals and non-professionals. Pakistan has four seasons with warm sea, beautiful rivers and green belts. What else the people needs? I believe sincerity within to choose the honest leadership who can make change in the right direction. The scholar and the poet of the East, Allama Iqbal says in Urdu which can translate in English as ‘God never changes the lives of those who don’t want their lives to be changed’.
