Account For N15bn You Inherited From Omehia, ACN Tells Amaechi

Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) governorship candidate in Rivers State, Dr Abiye Sekibo, has challenge the re-election seeking Governor Chibuike Amaechi, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to account for the N15 billion he allegedly inherited from the ousted Celestine Omehia administration. AkanimoReports on Monday said Amaechi, last week took on the ACN candidate, Sekibo, accusing him of doing nothing in Okrika, when he served as Secretary to the State Government and Transport Minister. For Amaechi, his ACN opponent lacks a moral high ground to seek to govern a state they unleashed terror on while in government. Firing back, Sekibo asked Amaechi to account for the N15 billion he allegedly inherited from the short-lived Omehia administration, and point to what he did to the Ikwerre people for eight years he served as the Speaker of the state House of Assembly. Sekibo who spoke through his Spokesman, Jerry Needam, accused the re-election seeking governor of fueling the communal crisis that rocked Okurama. ''Amaechi should be held responsible over the crisis at Okurama. The crisis happened under his watch as speaker. He did not say a word on the floor of the assembly and did not visit the community as part of his oversight function'', ACN alleged. Continuing, the opposition party added, ''as Speaker, Amaechi did not even deem it necessary to set up a committee to look into the matter. We are of the view that Amaechi could not have used Okurama people as a campaign issue. By so doing, he only insulted the peace loving people of the area''. To put this and other issues to rest in the state, Sekibo is challenging Amaechi to a public debate on their unwholesome activities in the state while in government.

According to ACN, ''we are hoping to use the debate platform to further expose Amaechi to Rivers people and let the people see the fraudulent government he runs in the state. We will also make Rivers people know why Amaechi should not be trusted and voted for''.

Sekibo said he had repeatedly said that he no hand in the crisis that engulfed Okurama community, adding, ''as a minister, i brought several projects to Rivers State and employed Rivers sons and daughters, and made Port Harcourt the headquarters of cabbotage in Nigeria''.

For the ACN, Amaechi lacks campaign issues because ''he has nothing to offer and so has nothing tangible to tell Rivers people''.
