MOSOP Alerts President Goodluck Jonathan of Massive Frauds
In an urgent Alert Letter, but open sent by mail and signed on behalf of MOSOP President/Spokesman, by the Secretary General of the Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People (MOSOP), Hon. Dum Ade John Budam, MOSOP said that the socalled MOSOP Provisional Council headed by Professor Ben Naanen does not exist and that no one should be fooled that discussion with Naanen will amount to anything in any outstanding question on the Ogoni Situation.
The Letter said: “The Ogoni people have several unresolved issues with Naanen and Ledum Mitee. Naanen is clearly fronting Mitee to cover-up constitutional violations before the court of law in Nigeria and MASSIVE FRAUDS before the Economic Financial Crimes Commission. Any responsible government cannot ignore the amount of frauds that Mitee and Naanen are fighting so hard to cover-up. Former President Olusengun Obasanjo publicly described Mitee as a thief. Obasanjo released some of the funds involved and Jonathan as former governor of Bayelsa State contributed as did Rivers State government to build a memorial for Ken Saro-Wiwa and other Ogoni martyrs. Discussion on the issues at UNEP Report on Ogoni, involving the government of Nigeria, Royal Dutch/Shell and others; calls for transparent dialogue with legitimate representatives of the Ogoni. Care must therefore be taken not to repeat mistakes in the past, whereby corrupt and discredited individuals were used against the Ogoni people to foment trouble. MOSOP will continue to defend the interest of the Ogoni and will take every legitimate measure to protect their constitutional and indigenous rights.

LETTER
MOSOP Alerts President Goodluck Jonathan of
Massive Frauds
Dear President Goodluck
Jonathan,
The attention of Movement for the Survival
of the Ogoni People, MOSOP has been drawn to a
publication by The Guardian Mobile online by a fake ground
calling itself MOSOP Provisional Council purporting to meet
with you on behalf of the Ogoni People. This group is not
known in Ogoni; and it is a fake, without anything to do
with the Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People
founded by Ken Saro-Wiwa.
The Ogoni people have several unresolved issues with individuals involved, particularly Prof. Ben Naanen and Barrister Ledum Mitee. Naanen is clearly fronting for Mitee to cover-up his constitutional violations already before the court of law in Nigeria and questions bordering on MASSIVE FRAUDS faced by Mitee now before the Economic Financial Crimes Commission (see attached document). MOSOP believes that the move to meet with you is with a fraudulent objective and plotted for intentional public deception.
As a responsible government, it will be impossible to ignore the amount of frauds, running into billions of naira from both foreign and domestic sources that Mitee and Naanen are fighting so hard to cover-up. Former President Olusengun Obasanjo publicly described Mitee as a thief. Obasanjo released some of the funds involved and then Governor Jonathan of Bayelsa State also contributed as did the Rivers State government towards the building of a memorial for Ken Saro-Wiwa and other Ogoni martyrs, which was never carried out.
Naanen has no mandate to discuss the implementation of the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) report on Ogoni land and since he was sacked from his appointed position in MOSOP under the leadership of Ken Saro-Wiwa he had not regained his standing to represent or speak for MOSOP in any capacity.
On November 10, 2011 and January 4, 2012, the Ogoni people already resolved under the leadership of Dr. Goodluck Diigbo – MOSOP President and Spokesman that a multi-stakeholders’ meeting be held to ensure compliance with EIAS due process, which supports best international practices required for carrying out an Environmental Impact Assessment Study (EIAS) to its logical conclusion and eventual implementation.
The call for the implementation of UNEP Report on Ogoni is ill-informed and ill-advised, when every effort should first be made to ensure that the UNEP Report becomes an authentic document to stand the test of time even after President Jonathan’s administration. Discussion on the issues at stake calls for transparency with legitimate representatives of the Ogoni to avoid the attempts in past to use corrupt and discredited individuals against the Ogoni people.
We ask you, Mr. President to discountenance moves, if any, by the fake group to use the presidency to legitimize corruption, constitutional violations, frauds and illegality.
Yours
Sincerely,
For and on behalf of the Movement for the
Survival of the Ogoni People (MOSOP)
Hon. Dum Ade
John Budam
Secretary General
Movement for the Survival
of Ogoni People
(MOSOP)
