Once Again Auckland Fails To Uphold Family Values

MEDIA RELEASE
17 August 2000

ONCE AGAIN AUCKLAND CITY COUNCIL FAILS TO UPHOLD FAMILY VALUES

The Christian Heritage Party commends Auckland City Councillors, David Hay and Frank Ryan, for their stand against ratepayer funding of a “Hero” Parade in 2001.

While City Attractions Chairwoman, Victoria Carter, pleads shortage of money, she and her committee are nonetheless prepared to give $30,000 towards the cost of flaunting homosexuality in public in Auckland.

Fostering a moral culture for families and children is essential if we as a nation are to stem the tide of personal and societal problems. By no stretch of the imagination can the “biggest and best extravaganza” planned for Ponsonby Road on 17 February next year, be seen as promoting anything other than decadence and pornography.

The Christian Heritage Party calls on other members of the Auckland City Council to re-evaluate their moral responsibilities to families’ well-being and reminds them that the homosexual rate paying community, although very vociferous, is very small.
