Aerial Operation Suspended For The Day

Aerial Operation Suspended For The Day

The latest general aerial operation to wipe out the painted apple moth commenced at 5.50am this morning (Tuesday 7 January) and was suspended just after 2.00pm this afternoon due to the weather.

Favourable weather conditions for most of the day, allowed at least 80% of the eradication zone to be completed today. Three aircraft were used in today’s operation – a Fokker Friendship, a small, fixed-wing aircraft and a helicopter that focused on “hotspot” areas.

Weather permitting, the aircraft will be back in the air tomorrow at first light to complete the operation.

For general information call our free phone 0800 96 96 96. People can also listen to Newstalk ZB, 531 pi, AM 990 BC and Radio Korea 1386AM for updates tomorrow morning.
