Trade in Water- Public Meeting Wellington June 22
The Wellington and Hutt City Councils decided on April 30 to put water services- water supply and waste water-into a joint water trading organisation which will operate under commercial law and be open to ompetition from from private companies,New Zealand and foreign.
Penny Bright, a leading activist of Auckland's Water Pressure Group will be in Wellington on Sunday, 22 June and will speak at a public meeting on what has happened in Auckland since water services were placed outside direct council control-bills of $1200-$2000 for large families on top of the rates.Penny will outlie the actions taken by the Group in response.
This kind of charge is new to us but we do know the effects of the privatisation of electicity. Quentin Findlay will overview this situation with suggested solutions in terms of policy
