WCDT gives boost to Small Business Enterprise

The Hokitika Town Centre has gained a new enterprise. SunshiNZ Giftware and Furniture will begin trading this weekend (Saturday 5th July), in Revell Street.
The West Coast Development Trust approved a business loan to its owner Carla Glass, to assist in the establishment of the business.

Carla has a background in retail and customer services, and for the last year has been in sole charge of a giftware shop in Wanaka.

“The business will be of a retail nature providing unique New Zealand made giftware, featuring pieces from local West Coast craftsmen. The Furniture on display is a selection from the Westwood range, crafted and designed by our own local joiner Dave Manera. All the furniture is made from recycled rimu and can be customized to suit various customer needs”, says Carla, “If there’s a special gift that somebody desires, they can also come to me and I can attempt to source it for them”.

Carla indicated she will be providing framing services also, “I create unique custom frames crafted from recycled native timber, and will soon be set up to offer a general picture framing service. “Its nice to be able to transform and display treasured photographs into a lovely wall piece, rather than having them tucked away and hidden in photo albums”, says Carla.

The Trust is pleased to encourage loans to small businesses and hopes to continue to see further applications from small to medium size enterprises in the future.
