Hutt City Contracts Calendar Available Soon

Hutt City Contracts Calendar Available Soon

Hutt City Council's Asset Services Group has sent out its Calendar for Tenders of Major Community Plan projects to interested contractors.

The Calendar lists major contracts, as well as those with a total budget (including legal and professional fees) of $25,000 or more, and provides contractors with an indication of major tender dates.

"We have found the Calendar is a useful way of advising contractors about the nature and type of projects we are looking to complete in the current financial year," said Stuart Duncan, General Manager, Asset Services Group.

"Providing contractors with an indication of the range of projects we are undertaking also fits with our efforts to foster and strengthen better partnerships between Council and its suppliers and contractors.

"Existing contractors will be sent a copy of the Calendar without needing to contact us first.

"Those who think they may not be on our mailing list are welcome to call Toni Stevens on 570 6873 and we will ensure they are sent a copy."

"There have also been a number of Calendars sent back to us, so obviously some contractors have either moved or ceased operations."

The Calendar will not include all major works contained in the Community Plan (formerly known as the Annual Plan) as some tenders may already have been advertised.

Stuart Duncan also had a word of caution for contractors who may have been contacted by an organisation putting out a range of publications, including one called The NZ Government & Local Authorities Purchasing Manual (reported in the August 2003 edition of Consumer).

"Contractors should be aware that we do not consult any such publication in the course of tendering work and that anyone interested in tendering for Council work should contact the Asset Services Group directly."
