Eight more regional development projects for Northland
Eight new regional development projects totally nearly $12.2 million are to go ahead in Northland with Transfund New Zealand giving funding approval at its September Board meeting.
The projects are: * Te Haupua/Spirits Bay in the Far North district, at a cost of $460,000
* West Coast Road in the Far North district, at a cost of $3.5 million
* Tangowahine Valley Road North in the Kaipara district, at a cost of $1.6 million
* Poutu Road in Kaipara district, at a total cost of $1.5 million
* Karaka Road widening and strengthening, in the Whangarei district, at a cost of $1.3 million
* Mangakahia Road, in the Whangarei district, at a cost of $1.16 million
* two projects on Otaika Valley Road, in the Whangarei district, at a cost of $2.67 million.
The projects are funded at 100 percent from Transfund's regional development output group for the 2003/04 National Land Transport Programme.
The regional development output group was set up in 2002/03 to assist areas with acute transport needs to primarily provide or improve access in such a way that will encourage direct additional investment in the region.
