Development Trust delivers funding for Recruit West Coast
The West Coast Development Trust today contributed $10,000 to The Grey District Council as an agent for Recruit West Coast, an initiative driven by a range of West Coast organisations.
Recruit West Coast specialises in recruiting skilled staff to meet West Coast business needs. It is the only stand alone HR company on the West Coast and offers the full range of professional human resource services such as reference checks, advice on employment contracts and writing job descriptions.
In the two months since it was established, Recruit West Coast has placed five skilled people into full-time employment, most of whom were sourced from outside the region. As a result of recent interviews, another three have been offered positions.
“All of these candidates bring a wealth of skills, knowledge and experience to their new roles,” says Tania Huckle, Manager of Recruit West Coast. “The companies that they work for can now operate at a more successful rate and provide better services to West Coast people.”
West Coast Development Trust chief executive, Mike Trousselot, says the Trust was impressed by what Recruit West Coast had accomplished since it was set up.
“The results they’ve achieved in their short history bodes well for the region.,” he said. “The Trust’s financial injection is designed to further build on those achievements.”
Mike Trousselot says the $10,000 suspensory loan sits comfortably within The Development Trust’s strategic plans and those of the other supporting partners – the Regional Initiative Fund, Community Employment Group, Work and Income, Solid Energy and the West Coast Employment Action Group. In particular, The Development Trust has asked Recruit West Coast to plan objectives relating to the service and development of employment on the West Coast.
As Tania Huckle explains, Recruit West Coast is already initiating other projects. “In addition to recruitment, we have been working hard at developing settlement strategies for all new residents to The Coast. I am also liaising with training providers and careers advisors to develop young peoples’ skills here, with the view to more successful recruitment of our younger generation in the future.”
Grey District Mayor Kevin Brown received the cheque on behalf of Recruit West Coast. “I regard Recruit West Coast as a very important development for our region and I am delighted with its early successes. I sincerely thank The West Coast Development Trust for its assistance towards this initiative.”
