Post Shops To Take HCC Rates

Post Shops To Take Hcc Rates

From 20 July 2004, New Zealand Post will provide over-the-counter payment facilities to Hutt City Council customers. New Zealand Post will accept payments of rates from 20 July 2004. Later in the year this will be extended to include payment of dog registrations and fines.

The Council's library-based service centres will no longer accept payment of rates from 20 July. A notice will be included with the next rates invoices highlighting this change and identifying the New Zealand Post shops in Hutt City.

Hutt City Council General Manager Finance, Tony Stallinger said the new arrangement will provide greater convenience for customers.

"Customers can pay their accounts at any New Zealand Post shop in the country and, with NZ Post supplying bill paying facilities for a range of other entities including power companies and telcos, the change means customers can now pay all these bills at the same time and place.

"The preferred, and most efficient method of rates payment is by direct debit. However, people can also pay their rates by mail, automatic payment, telephone banking or over the internet using the E-bill service or internet banking," said Tony Stallinger.

Payments will continue to be accepted over the counter at the Council's Administration Building in Laings Road, either by cash, cheque or EFTPOS.
