CMJ Traffic Bulletin: Saturday 21 August Until Friday 27 August

Transit New Zealand would like to advise motorists of proposed closures for ongoing work as part of the Central Motorway Junction upgrade project.

CMJ Stage 1
Full motorway closure:
Sunday 22 August – CLOSED –from 11pm to 4am the following morning:
- All northbound lanes over the Newmarket Viaduct.
Detour: for northbound traffic - off at Market Rd off-ramp and on at Gillies Ave on-ramp.

Wednesday 25 August and Thursday 26 August – CLOSED –from 11pm to 4am (contingency closures):
- All northbound lanes over the Newmarket Viaduct.
Detour: for northbound traffic - off at Market Rd off-ramp and on at Gillies Ave on-ramp.

Ramp and link closures:
Saturday 21 August – CLOSED – during the day from 6am until 8pm:
- Symonds St off-ramp (SH1 northbound)

Sunday 22 August – CLOSED – during the day from 6am until 8pm:
- Khyber Pass off-ramp (SH1 northbound)

Sunday 22 August – CLOSED – at night from 8pm until 11pm:
- Gillies Ave on-ramp (SH1 northbound)

Sunday 22 August – CLOSED – overnight from 8pm until 6am the following morning:
- Symonds St on-ramp (SH1 southbound)
- Khyber Pass on-ramp (SH1 southbound)
- Port off-ramp (SH1 northbound)
- Wellesley St off-ramp (SH1 northbound)
- Symonds St off-ramp (SH1 northbound)
- Northwestern to Southern Motorway link (SH16 to SH1 southbound)

Monday 23 August – CLOSED – between 12 midnight and 1am:
Ramps will be closed for up to 15 minutes. Traffic will be held on the on-ramps during the closure.

Local road closures:
Sunday 22 August – CLOSED – during the day from 6am to 8pm:
- Khyber Pass Rd near the motorway ramps

Sunday 22 August through to Thursday 26 August - CLOSED - overnight from 8pm to 6am the following morning:
- Either Khyber Pass Rd near the motorway ramps or Boston Rd

Ongoing motorway lane closures:
There will be ongoing north and southbound lane closures at night on the Southern Motorway between the Gillies Ave on- and off-ramps and the Symonds Street overbridge from Sunday through to Thursday nights until 2005.

Please choose alternative routes during these closures. Motorists are advised that there could be delays.

CMJ Stage 2

The CMJ Project

Stage 1 of Transit’s Central Motorway Junction upgrade project covers the section of motorway between the Upper Queen St over-bridge and Gillies Ave on- and off-ramps and is scheduled for completion in 2005.

Stage 2 of Transit’s Central Motorway Junction upgrade project extends from Bond St on the Northwestern Motorway (SH16) to the interface with CMJ Stage 1 near Symonds St and from Wellington St on the Southern Motorway (SH1) to Symonds St.
