Legendary band launches RAM campaign song
The legendary Frank E Evans Band will launch the RAM campaign song with a spirited rendition at the AUSA Student Quad, Princes St, central Auckland, on TUESDAY 14 SEPTEMBER at 12 noon.
RAM (Residents Action Movement) are standing eight candidates in the Auckland Regional Council election across North Shore, Auckland, Manukau and Franklin-Papakura.
The AUSA event will also celebrate the 35th anniversary of the liberation of Albert Park as a free speech zone, when the Frank E Evans Band put the 'jump' into the 'Jumping Sundays'.
Roger Fowler, a Manukau RAM candidate for the ARC election, will be singing for the Frank E Evans band. He was an original band member at the time of the Jumping Sundays.
And an Auckland RAM candidate, law student Valerie Vui, will speak after the band's performance.
Archival video footage of the Frank E Evans Band at the 'Jumping Sundays' (Sept 1969) and newspaper clippings of the time are available to media.
