Voters can Move Ahead on Auckland’s Issues

“The voters’ best opportunity to move ahead on Auckland’s issues” is how Citizens & Ratepayers Now see these local elections.

Much attention on the big issues is shared with the Mayoral campaigns. But our candidates on the doorsteps across Auckland this week are finding voters are interested in getting on with fixing the problems of the city and region. They are positive towards councillors and board members who will put words into action.

Citizens & Ratepayers Now is promoting a record number of candidates for 69 elected offices across Auckland. “One for every year that Citizens & Ratepayers have been involved in local Government in Auckland City”. These are carefully vetted candidates running on a robustly developed set of policies.

These candidates are unsurpassed in experience and commitment to deliver. They are local people standing in their own community, their own Ward. “That’s another difference to the City Vision & Action Hobson ticket.”

People are telling us they want stronger, safer communities with local services and facilities including libraries and for sports.

They also want traffic congestion fixed.

A recently published ARC survey recorded 50% naming congestion and 20% public transport as their top Auckland issue. Citizens & Ratepayers Now has 3 years of achievements in delivering the start of a much better transport system and is very focused to progress more plans into reality. Citizens & Ratepayers Now have the experience and commitment to make it happen, to complete the job.

And they want council rates to be at a fair level.

A core commitment of Citizens & Ratepayers Now is to hold any Auckland City rates increase to within inflation over the next three years. That’s another point of real difference. C&R Now City Councillors have held rates to within inflation for the last three years and have the experience and commitment to do so again.

These are some of the stark policy differences to the left-wing City Vision and Action Hobson. These political groups promote words not policies and insult voters by not offering alternatives.
