Development Trust approves feasibility study grant

The Trust will contribute $5,000 to a feasibility study undertaken in conjunction with The Buller District Council to assess economic development opportunities surrounding the film Denniston Rose. The Trust is contributing to the study along with The Buller District Council and the Community Employment Group.

The study will assess the potential viability and cost in developing longer term permanent tourism facilities at Denniston as a legacy of the film production of Denniston Rose, as opposed to the construction of temporary film sets.

The potential of reconstructing permanent replicas of the historical facilities that once existed could contribute to significant growth in tourism activities around the area of Denniston, therefore promoting sustainable economic development. In addition the area will receive significant promotional exposure as a result of the film production and this study will highlight how best to capitalize upon the expected ground swell of interest in historic Denniston.
