Berry: "Thanks, Auckland."
Libertarianz Deputy Leader & Auckland Mayoral Candidate Stephen Berry would like to give credit where it is due following an unoffical vote tally of 964, delivering the candidate a tight 5th place.
"Firstly, to the other 963 Aucklanders who voted for me, a big metaphorical bouquet. This has been a satisfying result considering my 21 years of age and being a first time mayoral candidate. It has also enabled hundreds to raise a big middle finger in the direction of those who use council for ego-extensions and control."
"I'd also like to issue Light of Liberty awards to those who have assisted me in this campaign, whether financially or through their offers of labour. Such a result would not have occured without this assistance."
"Also a mention should go to the media who dared menion candidates other than the big three - bFM, NZ Herald and AUT Magazine 'Te Waha Nui.'"
Berry, who intends to stand as a Libertarianz candidate in the parliamentary elections next year, is now looking at ways to extend the momentum of the mayoral elections. Details will be issued to the media and public as they are finalised.
Stephen Berry avoids being drawn on his plans until they are finalised, but says, "I'll be spending the next couple of days catching up on a lot of lost sleep before beginning preparation for the general election."
While Berry refuses to confirm or deny anything just yet, rumours within the party point toward a new E-Letter and raising public awareness of the ban on smoking in pubs this December.
"You'll just have to wait and see," he says with a wry smile.
