Rescuers find second body at crash site

Rescuers have found the body of the second man in the wreckage of the plane which crashed into Mt Taranaki yesterday.

This morning three highly experienced climbers and a photographer spent more than three hours climbing to the crash site, which is about 20 metres from the summit and inside the Mount crater.

“The search team did an outstanding job to reach the aircraft in arduous weather conditions and to find the second person,” says Rescue Coordination Centre Senior Search and Rescue Officer Geoff Lunt.

“Both bodies will be removed once rescuers are better able to access the site when the weather conditions improve.”
