West Harbour ferry service stays afloat

West Harbour ferry service stays afloat

The Auckland Regional Transport Authority is pleased to announce an interim contract for the provision of a ferry service from Westpark Marina. This follows negotiations with Yellow Water Taxis and Fullers Auckland.

“We are treating this short-term contract as a trial period as we assess the situation and take the opportunity to investigate a viable option for the future,” says ARTA CEO Alan Thompson.

“We must consider the needs of this fast-growing area, and the only way ARTA can responsibly do this is by carrying out a thorough survey of the requirements of West Harbour residents,” he says.

Fullers Auckland have entered into a contract with ARTA and will retain the current operator to run the service between Westpark Marina and Downtown Auckland.

These changes will not affect the current timetable and the same vessel will remain in operation.

The contract comes into effect on Monday 17 January and will run for six months.
