Potikohua Trust to receive $15,000 Development Trust grant
The West Coast Development Trust has earmarked $15,000 to help Buller’s Potikohua Trust develop a long term funding strategy.
“The Potikohua Trust currently sources grants from a range of Government and other funding agencies,” explains Development Trust chairman, Frank Dooley,” and they initially approached us for funds to help continue delivering their services.
“However The Development Trust is unable to grant funding to cover day-to-day operational expenses. We felt therefore that the best way we could support them was to ensure they developed a more strategic approach to sourcing funds. Not only will this make the ongoing task of raising grant money more effective, it will improve the organisation’s sustainability into the future.”
The Potikohua Trust has operated in the Buller area for the past 10 years. It delivers a range of services and programmes in the health, education and social service areas to marginalised women and their families. The Trust takes an holistic approach by also providing providing their clients with self esteem, confidence and the ability to become empowered to take an active part in their communities.
Over 240 people attended Potikohua Trust courses in 2004.
